Ken and Anne
Anne’s story
Being widowed after a long marriage left me feeling very lonely, despite family, church and groups. I hoped to meet someone again but being an older lady I wondered how, as I only seemed to meet other ladies or couples. I then discovered the ‘friends1st’ website and I like what I read – I had a good feeling about it, so I decided to join.
It was very interesting to talk to others on the telephone and I did go on two dates but didn’t fell I’d me the right person. As time went by, I began to wonder if I’d ever meet someone special, however reading other Heavenly Partners stories really encouraged me.
One day some new profiles arrives and I saw Ken’s profile with his happy smile. I thought he looked very nice so I rang him and we arragned to talk that evening. We had a very long chat and he promised to ring me again two days late, which thankfully he did!
Ken suggested meeting up at Birmingham a few days later and I agreed. When he met me with his friendly smile we just got on so well straight away. Holding hands, we had a magical date exploring the city, having lunch then coffee and talking!
Over the next few months we spent a lot of time together, meeting each others’ families and friends, then Ken proposed – even getting down on one knee!
Just over a year from our first meeting we got married on a cold winters day, but surrounded by the warmth of family and friends. We came down the isle to the tune “Love is the sweetest thing” which was so apt. We’ve now been married over 18 months and our love has deepened, as we’ve supported each other through joys and sorrows. We are so thankful to God and Heavenly Partners for bringing us together.
Ken’s story
I joined Heavenly Partners in June 2009 and I was sent profiles of ladies who all seemed very nice but due to lack of confidence I did not contact anyone.
On 5th November a lady called Anne rang me – a member of friends1st. I said I would ring her back that evening as I was just going out. Then we spoke for about 2 hours and we seemed to get on so well. A few days later we spoke again. Next we arranged to meet in Birmingham.
We had such a nice day, talking and getting to know each other and the time flew by and it was time to part. So I took courage and asked Anne if she would like to visit me in Gloucestershire. She said yes.
Then she met my family and friends and visited my church. A short while later I went to visit Anne’s family and church and we all got on well.
As time went on, Anne and I got closer and closer and I asked her to marry met. She accepted and so we got married in November with a Salvation Army band, choir and 40 guests. We had a short honeymoon in Torquay.
I do thank God and Heavenly Partners for this happiness we share and feel it was God’s plan for us.
